TAMPA — A St. Petersburg man charged federally with filing fraudulent claims in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon disaster has pleaded guilty, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Thursday. Joseph Bassler, 61, faces up to 30 years in prison for his convictions on mail fraud and money laundering counts.
